How egg donation works in Texas

Texas intended parents and egg donors work with Donor Nexus through two programs. In the Fresh Matching Program, a donor is matched with one family and completes her cycle at that family's IVF clinic, so a Houston or Dallas family's donor comes to them, and a Texas donor matched with a family nearby can often cycle close to home. In the Frozen Egg Bank, donors complete their retrieval at our partner site in Newport Beach, California, and the frozen eggs ship directly to clinics in Houston, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, and throughout the United States, usually within four to six weeks. In either program, one dedicated case manager coordinates every step for both sides.

If you live in Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin, San Antonio, or anywhere else in Texas, you can use donor eggs from Donor Nexus without changing doctors. You keep your Texas fertility clinic and physician, and you can register for free to browse our egg donor database of more than 500 profiles, wherever the donor lives. Through our Fresh Donor Matching Program, we arrange and pay for your donor's travel so she can complete her cycle at your clinic. Through our Frozen Egg Bank, eggs retrieved at our Newport Beach partner site ship directly to your clinic in Texas. We also offer an embryo donation program for Texas families who would like to use donor embryos.

Fresh Matching Program fees start at $29,600, which covers donor compensation, travel, and agency, legal, and screening costs. A cohort of six eggs from our Frozen Egg Bank ranges from $19,500 to $29,500. You can compare our donor egg programs side by side or book a complimentary call with one of our case managers, who will answer your questions and help you work out which program fits your family. Both programs offer non-identified and Open ID donations, and fresh matches can also be identified.

Does Texas insurance cover donor eggs?

Usually not through the state law. The Texas Insurance Code requires insurers to offer IVF coverage to employers, but only for cycles where the patient's own eggs are fertilized with her spouse's sperm, so donor egg IVF falls outside that requirement, and an employer can choose not to buy the coverage at all. Some employer plans and fertility benefits cover donor egg cycles anyway, so ask your insurer or HR team exactly what your plan includes. Our full egg donor cost breakdown walks through every fee, and our IVF grants page lists funding options many families use.

Fresh donor matching at your Texas clinic

In a fresh cycle you are matched one to one with a donor. She travels to your Texas IVF clinic for her final monitoring and retrieval, and you receive every viable egg from that retrieval. Donor Nexus fresh cycles average 28.9 eggs retrieved and 22.6 mature eggs. A fresh cycle usually takes four to six months from match to retrieval, with most of that time spent on the donor's medical, genetic, and psychological screening.

Frozen donor eggs shipped to Houston, Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio

Frozen donor eggs are available in cohorts of six and ship from our Southern California egg bank directly to your Texas clinic, usually within four to six weeks of completed paperwork and payment. Each cohort comes with the blastocyst guarantee described on the Frozen Egg Bank page, and every shipment travels in a Cryoport dry shipper with continuous temperature monitoring from our lab to yours.

How long does the donor egg process take?

Frozen donor eggs can reach your Texas clinic in about four to six weeks, while a fresh cycle usually takes four to six months from match to retrieval, so the program you choose sets most of your timeline.

Egg banking for Texas donors

Egg banking means donating to our Frozen Egg Bank instead of matching with one family. You complete your monitoring near home in Texas and then travel to our partner site in Newport Beach, California for the retrieval, with flights and lodging covered, and your eggs are frozen for intended parents to select later. Many donors complete both a banking cycle and a fresh cycle over time.

Why Texas donors choose Donor Nexus

Our team is made up of women close in age to the donors we work with, and many of them have donated through Donor Nexus themselves, which is a big part of why about 70% of our cycles come from repeat donors and referrals. If you don't have a companion for your retrieval, we can arrange a private nurse through our NurseRegistry partnership, and our refer-a-friend program pays $1,000 once a donor you refer completes a retrieval, whether or not you have donated yourself.

Egg donation in Texas: frequently asked questions

These are the questions we hear most often from Texas intended parents and egg donors. For program details and pricing, visit our donor egg programs page, or if you are thinking about donating, start with how egg donation works.

Women ages 19 to 29 who have a BMI of 24.9 or under and don't smoke can apply, and we consider healthy applicants in their early 30s case by case. Every donor completes medical, genetic, and psychological screening before she is matched or begins a banking cycle, and your screening labs and ultrasounds happen at a provider near you in Texas.

In the Donor Nexus Fresh Matching Program you set your own compensation with guidance from our team, there is no cap, and all of it goes directly to you. Frozen Egg Bank compensation is standardized and increases with each donation. Travel, lodging, and a companion's costs are covered separately, and payment is released within five to seven days of retrieval. Current figures are listed on our Become an Egg Donor page.

Our standard age range is 19 to 29, and we consider healthy applicants in their early 30s case by case, since egg quality and the number of eggs retrieved both decline with age. If you are 30 to 33, apply anyway and our team will review your history and let you know quickly whether you qualify.

Yes. You keep your own Texas clinic and physician. In our Fresh Matching Program your donor travels to your clinic for her final monitoring and retrieval, with her travel arranged and covered, and in our Frozen Egg Bank the eggs ship directly to your clinic in a temperature-monitored dry shipper. We have partnered with clinics across Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, and Austin, and we work with any licensed IVF clinic that accepts outside donor eggs.

Fresh Matching Program fees with Donor Nexus start at $29,600, which covers donor compensation, travel, and agency, legal, and screening costs. A cohort of six frozen eggs from our egg bank ranges from $19,500 to $29,500. Your Texas clinic bills its own IVF, embryo transfer, and medication costs separately, and our financial breakdown page lists every line item.

Usually not through the state law. Texas requires insurers to offer IVF coverage to employers, but only for cycles where the patient's own eggs are fertilized with her spouse's sperm, so donor egg IVF falls outside that requirement, and employers can decline the coverage. Some employer plans and fertility benefits cover donor egg cycles anyway, so ask your insurer or HR team what your plan includes.
