Become an Egg Donor With Donor Nexus

Donor Nexus is a donor-first egg donation agency. We offer two flexible programs, and you set your own compensation. We cover all travel, lodging, and companion expenses so the compensation you set is what you take home.

One Way to Donate

Fresh Matching Program

In our Fresh Matching Program, one set of intended parents receives all retrieved eggs.

You set your own compensation with guidance from our team. There is no cap and compensation is typically higher for fresh cycles. Donors who have completed previous cycles or who are in high demand typically earn on the higher end of the range.

Your profile is added to our online database under the Fresh Matching Program. From there, you wait to be selected by intended parents. Donor Nexus has some of the fastest matching times in the industry, though timing varies as we ensure the right fit for both parties.

You’ll typically work with the fertility clinic chosen by the intended parents. If you’re local, all appointments happen at that clinic. If not, you may travel for medical screening and again for your stimulation and retrieval period. Some clinics allow monitoring at a clinic near you for certain appointments.

Another Way to Donate

Frozen Egg Banking

As a donor with our Frozen Egg Bank, you don’t wait to be matched. Once you pass prescreening, your cycle begins and the retrieved eggs are frozen in our egg bank, where they have the potential to be distributed to 3–4 sets of intended parents.

You choose your compensation which is paid after your retrieval. Compensation increases with each subsequent donation.

We partner with HRC Fertility in Newport Beach, California, for all egg banking retrievals. Local donors attend all appointments there. If you’re outside California, your monitoring appointments happen at a clinic near you, and we fly you to Newport Beach for your retrieval.

Our egg retrieval site meets and exceeds the standards set by the FDA, the College of American Pathologists (CAP), and the California State Health Department Licensing Program.

How to Become an Egg Donor With Donor Nexus

The process is straightforward, but it’s not simple and we won’t pretend it is. Here’s what to expect at each step.

Step 1: Apply and Complete Screening

Start by filling out our online egg donor application. Once accepted, you’ll complete a screening process that includes a physical exam, medical evaluations, a genetic counselor consultation, psychological screening, and a legal consultation. For our first-time egg donors, the screening process can take up to 4 months. For egg banking donors, screening begins right away. For fresh matching donors, you’ll complete prescreening after being selected by intended parents.

Step 2: Begin Your Egg Donation Cycle

After passing screening, you’ll begin your donation cycle. This typically starts with 7–10 days of birth control, followed by approximately 12–14 days of self-administered hormone injections into your lower abdomen. Your physician will prescribe a medication protocol specific to you. During this time, you’ll attend several monitoring appointments so your care team can track your progress and adjust medications as needed.

Step 3: Egg Retrieval

The egg retrieval itself takes about 20–30 minutes under monitored anesthesia care. You’ll need a companion to drive you home afterward. For frozen egg banking cycles, your retrieval takes place at HRC Fertility in Newport Beach, California. For fresh matching donations, you’ll travel to the intended parents’ fertility clinic. All travel expenses are covered. You receive your compensation shortly after your retrieval.

  • Education: College student or graduate preferred.

Additional criteria may apply. Please reach out with any questions about eligibility.

What You Gain From Egg Donation

Egg donation is a meaningful, rewarding, and practical process. Aside from the gift of helping someone else start a family, the financial compensation can help you pay off student loans, save for future goals, or invest in what matters to you. The medical screening also gives you valuable insight into your own fertility and health, which can help you make informed decisions for your future.

Frequently Asked Questions

Women between the ages of 19 and 30 with a healthy BMI, no major hereditary or genetic illnesses, and who are non-smokers are encouraged to apply. You'll also need to pass a series of screening evaluations — medical, genetic, psychological, and infectious disease — and complete fertility assessments before your cycle. If you're not sure whether you qualify, apply anyway and we'll let you know.

It's a meaningful commitment, and we want you to go in with clear eyes. During your active cycle, this needs to be your top priority — missed appointments or lapses in medication timing can cause a cycle to be cancelled, which affects the intended parents who are counting on you.

Here's what the process involves from start to finish: an application, questionnaires, and a consultation with our team; medical, psychological, and genetic screening evaluations; a legal consultation so you fully understand your rights and responsibilities; birth control pills for about one to two weeks before your cycle begins; self-injections of stimulation medications for approximately 10 to 12 days; four to six monitoring appointments; and an egg retrieval procedure at the end of the cycle.

Throughout the process, you'll need to schedule appointments ahead of time, arrive on time, follow medication instructions precisely, and respond promptly to your case manager. For one-on-one donations, you'll travel to the intended parents' fertility clinic. For egg banking cycles, you'll travel to Newport Beach, California. All travel expenses are covered by Donor Nexus.

We know it sounds like a lot — and it is a commitment. But most of our donors tell us it's one of the most meaningful things they've ever done.

At Donor Nexus, you decide what you want to be paid. We'll give you guidance on typical ranges and what's realistic based on your profile, but the final number is always yours. For fresh one-on-one cycles, there's no set cap — compensation is agreed upon between you and the intended parents. For egg banking cycles, compensation is more standardized with the opportunity to earn up to $20,000 per cycle. Your compensation increases with each subsequent donation.

No. Donor Nexus covers all travel, lodging, and companion expenses separately. Every dollar of your compensation goes directly to you.

Within 5 to 7 days of your egg retrieval, via ACH or wire transfer. Your compensation is held in escrow until that point.

Generally yes. Since you don't need to wait to be matched with intended parents, egg banking cycles move faster and compensation arrives sooner. The tradeoff is that banking compensation is typically lower than fresh cycle compensation.

Donor Nexus offers a referral program — you earn $500 for every egg donor you refer who successfully completes a retrieval, with no limit on the number of referrals. You don't even need to have completed a cycle yourself to participate. Just have them mention your name in their application. Referred candidates must be between the ages of 19 and 30, healthy, non-smokers, and college student or graduate preferred.

Everything in your questionnaire is available for intended parents to review, with all identifying information removed before your profile goes on our database. All donations are nonidentified unless you agree otherwise. On occasion, an interested intended parent may ask for additional photos or ask specific questions — please respond to these requests quickly, as it signals that you're engaged and committed to the match.

Most donations are nonidentified, but it's very common for intended parents to request a Zoom call to get a sense of who you are before officially matching. A Donor Nexus team member is always on the call, and no identifying information is shared. Let us know in your questionnaire if you're open to this.

If you live locally to the clinic, most likely not. Monitoring appointments are scheduled between 7:30 and 9:30 AM, are brief, and consist of an ultrasound and a blood draw. The egg retrieval itself requires a full day off, plus recovery at home. Outside of those appointments, most donors find the process fits around their regular schedule.

If the clinic is not close to you, you will likely need to travel for a one-day medical screening appointment during the week. Most clinics also require you to spend 5–7 days near the clinic leading up to egg retrieval, so you'll want to plan ahead for that time away from your regular routine.
